Loch Marlee

Situated in beautiful countryside overlooking Loch Marlee, Ridgeway provides the traveller with an excellent base for touring both the highlands and lowlands of Scotland. Touring in the summer and skiing in the winter are the favourite pastimes at Glenshee and Glencoe.
Our friendly accommodation is conviently located just 3 miles from the beautiful town of Blairgowrie. Uninterrupted views of the Grampian mountains and the Sidlaw Hills can be enjoyed from our extensive secluded gardens. Visitors can roam the garden or utilise the garden furniture provided.

Blairgowrie is ideally suited for touring. The beautiful Fife coast is not far, where one can visit East Neuk - small picturesque, old fishing villages as well as the famous golfing venue of St. Andrews, which also hosts Deep Sea World.

Blairgowrie's Rosemount golf course is one of the finest courses in the area. There are also over 60 alternative courses within an hours drive including the 1999 open course Carnoustie.

Fishing is readily available and there are castles in abundance to view.

The local weather is one of the best in the UK, being sheltered by the surrounding mountainsides from the rainfall mostly experienced elswhere in Scotland. In the summertime the days are long, hot and dry with dusk being late in the evening and dawn following not much later.

Scotland is famous for its hill walking and mountaineering, with the Monros, the Grampian Mountains and the Sidlaw Hills all local.

Water Sports are available at Loch Tay and Loch Earn.

Bird Watching is extremely good with Ospreys, Golden Eagles which can be seen locally. The famous Lowes Wildlife Centre is only 5 miles away.

There are literally thousands of historical sites in the area which are too numerous to mention. One point of interest is the rebuilt Crannog on Loch Tay, (pictured right). This type of dwelling predates recorded history and was built on water to protect against attack by other tribes and wild animals.
